Things to do in Wensleydale
Bolton Castle Bolton Castle dominates the northern side of Wensleydale. Mary Queen of Scots was once imprisoned in the castle and attempted an escape to Leyburn across the Shawl Fields.
Middleham Castle Richard III's former home boasts the largest Keep in the North of England. It was once the powerful centre for a vast medieval estate. Open all year.
The Forbidden Corner (Coverdale) This modern 'folly' in Coverdale is an exciting place to visit. It has water features, mystery trails, and a modern grotto which contains dramatic surprises.
Lightwater Valley (nr Ripon) Set in lower Wensleydale, Lightwater Valley has a wide range of theme park activities including rollercoasters and many other rides.
Beech End Model village in Leyburn is a great day out for all the family that combines fantastic visual detail with interactive fun.
